Michael Abrishamcar: Turning Visions Into Reality
By Caitlyn Stair, Diamond Certified Research Reporter
For Michael Abrishamcar, construction is about more than creating structures—it’s about crafting seamless experiences that brings his clients’ visions to life. Blending architecture and remodeling expertise, he guides every project from concept to completion, ensuring homeowners feel supported and confident throughout the process.
Michael first became involved in architecture after graduating from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s School of Architecture & Design in 1984. He started working as an architectural designer shortly after and gained experience across a wide range of projects, but after two decades in the trade, he realized he wanted a more hands-on, people-centered role. In 2007, he earned his contractor’s license and transitioned into construction, founding Peninsula Design and Construction that same year. “It’s more rewarding when you partner with people and see how happy they are at the end of their projects,” he says. “My passion is creating a seamless design/build process for my clients. I enjoy delivering their projects on time and seeing the smiles on their faces.”
Michael oversees every aspect of Peninsula Design and Construction’s work, which allows him to make sure each client’s goals are being met while keeping the construction process smooth and transparent. “I’m dealing with all kinds of cultures, people and locations, so it adds up to a fun trade,” he says. “I keep clear and effective communication throughout each project, and even after it’s completed, we follow up to ensure everything is in place.”
Michael’s approach has led to several lasting client relationships. On one occasion, a homeowner reached out long after their project was finished—not with a problem, but to say thanks. “He just wanted to take me out to lunch and thank me for all the hard work,” he details. “That’s what it’s all about: making sure clients are truly satisfied.”
Originally from Iran, Michael moved to the United States in 1976, later graduating from a military academy in Alabama before earning his architecture degree. He has lived in the Bay Area since 1984 and currently resides in Hayward, where he enjoys the climate and diverse community. Outside of work, he likes taking in Northern California’s wide-ranging scenery by driving; walking; biking; and visiting places like Santa Cruz, Carmel, Napa, and Lake Tahoe. “I’m a big fan of nature,” he affirms. “Whenever I can find time, I just get outside.”
Michael believes strongly in growth, preparation, and continuously building on both experience and relationships—principles he has applied throughout his career. Looking ahead, he plans to expand Peninsula Design and Construction by establishing dedicated residential and commercial divisions, further strengthening his ability to serve clients across a wider range of projects.
Ask Me Anything!
Q: Are you a dog person or a cat person?
A: A dog person. They’re easier to train and they make great friends.
Q: If you could live in the city or the country, which would you choose?
A: I would live in the country for retirement because it’s more relaxing and there’s more free time to walk around, but the city is better for working.
Q: If you could time-travel, would you go to the past or the future?
A: I would go to the past and change some things.
Q: What’s the strangest food you’ve ever eaten?
A: I tried alligator tail in New Orleans once. They served turtle soup there, too, but I wouldn’t eat that.
