First tip I want to talk about today is water shutoffs. It is very common we go into homes and majority of people do not know where their main water shutoff is. If you have a water leak in the home that is in an actual pipe before there's a valve under a sink or something like that, or it's leaking from the ceiling down into the first story or just through a wall, this is gonna be the thing that allows you to shut off the water in that instance, so that way you can stop the leak from occurring.
This can save you a lot of heartache in an emergency. So nine times out of ten, the water shutoff will be to the left or right of the front door of your home. It'll be coming up out of the ground. Most of the time, the valve will either be round like this or like this. This is a ball valve here. This one's a gate valve.
This right here is in the off position. This is in the on position. This one here, you exercise to the right to shut the water off. So if you ever have an emergency, a water leak, or anything like that, go ahead and shut this valve off and open up the hose bib. It'll relieve pressure and help eliminate any damages that might occur in the home.
I also am a big proponent, I always turn this off every time I go on vacation if no one's gonna be in the home, just to be safe that that you don't have any unexpected water leaks that you come home to a big, expensive surprise.
