Angie Spaulding: A Lasting Impression
By Caitlyn Stair, Diamond Certified Research Reporter
For Angie Spaulding, a fence is never just a structure—it’s the end result of a conversation that started long before construction ever began. In her world, the real work happens early: building trust, answering questions and shaping each customer’s experience from the very first call.
Angie first got involved in the fence industry through her family—her father, Guy Aranda, started working on fences in 1978 and established Guy’s Fencing, Inc. in 2001. Angie grew up around that environment, learning customer service and business operations alongside her parents. “I started young, just being there and helping customers however I could,” she recalls. “I was eight years old when I started learning that side of things.”
Angie’s professional path became more defined in her late teens, when she started contributing more directly to the family businesses. Working closely with her mother, she gradually built out the customer-facing side of the company and helped shape the experience that clients know today.
Today, as Guy’s Fencing’s office manager, Angie serves as one of the first points of contact for every client. Her role centers on communication, organization and delivering a high level of service from the beginning of each project. “My favorite part is connecting with customers through the phone and kicking off the experience the right way,” she explains. “We try to set the bar very high from day one.”
At Guy’s Fencing, that standard means real people answering the phones and a hands-on approach to customer care. Angie and her team prioritize responsiveness and flexibility, ensuring clients feel informed and supported before work even begins. “We’re not an answering service—we’re the office,” she says. “From the moment a customer calls, we want them to feel taken care of and respected.”
For Angie, what makes fence work meaningful is the human connection behind it. Even though she isn’t physically building fences, she sees her role as helping shape the entire experience. “It’s about making people feel confident and comfortable every step of the way,” she reflects. “Fencing is more than construction—it’s an art. We’re able to take a space and completely change how it feels and functions.”
A longtime resident of Sonoma County, Angie currently lives in Santa Rosa with her husband, Cody, and their four children, Ayla, Aliyah, Caleb, and Micah. Family is central to her life both inside and outside of work. With a large extended family involved in the business, life often feels like a constant gathering. “We’re a really big family,” she affirms. “When we’re all together, there can be 40 of us in the kitchen just talking while the kids play outside.”
At the core of Angie’s approach to both business and life is a belief in respect, honesty, and leading by example—values she credits to her parents. “They raised us on morals and respect,” she says. “I think that carries forward into our kids and future generations. We’re creating good, honest people.”
