Trevor Fellows: Enjoying the Moment
By Matt Solis, Editor
Trevor Fellows had always been peripherally interested in construction, but it took the initiative of an outside party to officially springboard him into a new career. “I first got involved in remodeling in 2017, when a friend of a friend introduced me to a local general contractor,” he explains. “He thought that since I liked tinkering with woodworking and building projects around my house, it might translate to a professional opportunity. From there, I started working in the field and never looked back.”
By 2021, Trevor’s growing interest in client interaction opened the door to a sales manager position with D.R. Domenichini Construction. “I was looking for a role that combined my field experience with my strengths as a people person, and Dave [Domenichini, owner] gave me an opportunity that aligned with that,” he says. “I love this job because I get to interact with people and see how they design their spaces—it gives me ideas for how to design my own dream home.”
A lifelong resident of the Bay Area, Trevor currently lives in Morgan Hill with his wife and two children, with a third on the way. He says his favorite parts of life in South Silicon Valley are the small-town charm and urban accessibility. “It’s the kind of place where you can wave to someone you know during the Fourth of July parade, but it’s also big enough to not feel secluded.”
When he’s not working, Trevor enjoys playing guitar, camping, fishing and escaping into nature with his family. “Anything that gets me away from screens and closer to the outdoors…that’s where I want to be,” he says. “But during an average week, it’s all about family time. We’re always with the kids’ grandparents or having a barbecue with cousins in the backyard.”
In terms of a personal or professional philosophy, Trevor is guided by a mantra that has served him well throughout his life. “I’ve always liked the saying, ‘A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor,’” he offers. “There are always challenges and obstructions in life and work, but anything that doesn’t go perfectly is just a blessing in disguise that makes you more experienced for what the future may throw your way.”
When asked the first thing he would do if he retired tomorrow, Trevor says he’d plan his next moves far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. “I would pack up the family and head to the woods for a few days. We’d find a quiet campsite, build a fire and just enjoy the moment.”
