Serge Kondrashevich: Every Problem Has a Solution
By Caitlyn Stair, Diamond Certified Research Reporter
For Serge Kondrashevich, every plumbing problem is a puzzle waiting to be solved. While many people see a leaking pipe or failing water heater as an inconvenience, he sees an opportunity to investigate, diagnose and deliver a lasting solution.
Prior to entering the plumbing industry, Serge spent time as a delivery driver, landscaper and tile installer. However, like many people during the COVID-19 pandemic, he found himself reevaluating his career path and searching for something more fulfilling. When he came across an opportunity to join Bell Brothers Plumbing Heating and Air as a technician, he decided to take a chance on a completely new profession. “With plumbing, every job is different,” he says. “The situations might seem similar, but every problem has its own solution, and that’s what makes it interesting.”
Transitioning into the plumbing trade required a tremendous commitment to learning. In addition to Bell Brothers’ training, Serge fully immersed himself in plumbing education by watching instructional videos and talking to experienced technicians. As a visual, hands-on learner, he quickly discovered that each new repair was another opportunity to build his knowledge. “The learning never stops,” he says. “Every time I do something for the first time, I learn from it and carry that experience into the next job.”
Today, Serge focuses on identifying the root cause of plumbing problems rather than simply treating the symptoms. While he admits that temporary repairs can provide short-term relief, he believes homeowners deserve to understand all of their options, including permanent solutions that prevent future headaches. “It’s about giving people choices,” he explains. “Sometimes a repair will get you by for a while, but if the product is at the end of its life, replacing it will give you peace of mind for years to come.”
Whether he’s restoring hot water, repairing a leak or diagnosing a hidden plumbing issue, Serge enjoys knowing that his work has an immediate and lasting impact on his customers’ daily lives. “It’s challenging, but it’s also very satisfying,” he says. “I get to solve problems and make a real difference for people.”
Serge has lived in Sacramento for more than two decades and enjoys taking advantage of Northern California’s outdoor lifestyle—on weekends, he can often be found cycling along the American River Parkway or playing basketball. Self-described as a “jack of all hobbies,” he also enjoys trying new activities whenever something catches his interest.
When it comes to a guiding philosophy, Serge believes real growth comes from staying humble and continuing to learn. “Nobody knows everything,” he offers. “The best we can do is keep learning and do the best we can with the situation we’re facing.”
