Reynaldo Lopez: Built for Generations
By Caitlyn Stair, Diamond Certified Research Reporter
For Reynaldo Lopez, roofing is about more than the work itself—it’s about building something that lasts for generations. What started with long days and steady effort has grown into a family business that continues to evolve with each new generation.
Reynaldo first got involved in the roofing industry in his late teens after meeting his wife. “I was working as a handyman at the time, but my father-in-law was a roofer, so I started helping him on weekends,” he explains. Over the years, he continued developing his skills, gradually investing in better equipment and gaining the hands-on experience that would shape his future in the trade.
Eventually, Reynaldo reached a turning point and realized he was ready to branch out on his own. In 2012, that vision became New Era Roofing, LLC. “I had all the tools, the equipment, the trucks…the only thing I didn’t have was my business license,” he recalls. “That’s when the light turned on. I just felt like it was the right thing to do. I wanted to see where it would take me, and here we are over a decade later.”
Today, Reynaldo focuses on delivering long-term value to each customer. He makes it a priority to keep homeowners informed at every stage of their roofing projects, from material selection to final inspection. “Customer service and quality control are number one,” he says. “Roofs aren’t cheap—you get what you pay for. My job is to keep our clients informed so we can move forward with the best possible outcomes for the long term.”
Reynaldo’s favorite part of his job comes at the very end, when he sees his hard work pay off. “Seeing a completed roof with new gutters and noticing the difference in the house…that’s probably the best part,” he shares. “A perfect job is when it all comes together and the homeowners are happy and grateful.”
Reynaldo takes quality control personally, often checking in on jobs himself. “Keeping clients informed is important, but I also put eyes on the job throughout the day to confirm everything is being done right,” he says. “It’s all about making sure the final product is solid.”
Outside of work, Reynaldo enjoys spending time with his family in Sacramento, where he lives with his wife, Liana, and their four children. When he’s not working, he values time to recharge. “We like taking beachfront trips,” he details. “We’ll go to Monterey for a few days to relax, turn off our phones and regroup.”
New Era Roofing has become a true family operation, with Reynaldo’s sons and nephews involved. “My oldest son just got his license to do his own roofing business, and my youngest son is currently working for me,” he says. “We’re truly family-owned and operated.”
Looking ahead, Reynaldo envisions a legacy that continues for generations. “I have my sons, and now my sons have sons, so it’ll keep going,” he says. “Hopefully, my current clients will be their clients when it’s time to redo their roofs again.”
That focus on building a strong foundation extends beyond Reynaldo’s work and into his life. When he reflects on what has carried him through the years, he doesn’t hesitate. “Put God first in everything you do,” he shares. “This business isn’t just about roofs—it’s about serving the community and honoring the trust people have in us. I think that’s what has gotten me this far.”
Ask Me Anything!
Q: Are you an early bird or a night owl?
A: Both. I get up early and go to bed late.
Q: Do you prefer being somewhere cold or somewhere hot?
A: Somewhere cold. You can always warm up, but it’s a lot harder to cool down.
Q: If you could time-travel, would you go to the past or the future?
A: The past. As you get older, you start thinking about the people you’ve lost. I’d want another chance to spend more time with them.
Q: What’s your favorite sports team?
A: The Sacramento Kings, even though they’re not the best. I’m also a Raiders fan from before they moved to Las Vegas.
Q: What’s the strangest food you’ve ever eaten?
A: Duck. It was a little chewy but pretty good.
