Video: Mixing and Matching Flooring

with Dakota Flick of The Floor Store

Don't be scared to mix and match. there's different types of materials that you can put on the floor, specifically with hard surfaces. Really the main three types that you have, laminate, a luxury vinyl, and hardwood.

There's different properties for each one. Laminate is going to be more scratch resistant. Vinyl is going to be more waterproof, and hardwood is going to look better. Now the problem with hardwood though is that it's not waterproof. The problem with vinyl is it's going to scratch easier, and the problem with laminate is also not completely waterproof. So what we can do is we can match styles together so you're not locked to just one specific style in your home.

What this means is that if you have a living room. You can put hardwood down. You can get that beautiful look of hardwood in your living room when you're entertaining. People will be able to see it. It looks great. But let's say you want that same material, but you want that, put that in the kitchen. We have matching products that will work for that. And we can match up the hardwood to the vinyl, and we can put a strip down the middle, a t mold down the middle to break up the two. Similar, if you have a playroom, we can put a laminate in that room, and if that's coming off of the hardwood, we, we mold that with putting a t mold in between.

So really I want to emphasize the point is that you're not locked into one material. You can use multi materials for a home depending on what the room is used for.
