Hi, my name is Jeremy Owens. Hey, one question I get asked often in the siding industry is, should I select a pre finished siding or a primed product and paint it myself? Well, I would recommend a pre finished material, such as James Hardy Fiber Cement or LP Smart Siding. They both pre finish their materials in their own factories.

The paint coverage is the entire panel and the entire edge as well. As opposed to when you're painting just what you see, you're not going to get all full coverage, as well as you're not going to get a very good quality paint. In California, we have high what's called VOC laws. VOC is what kind of makes the paint quality a little bit more watery and less adherent to the material.

So you're going to have a higher maintenance schedule. Furthermore, they both provide you with 15 years of paint warranty.
