Hi, this is Jeremy Owens. Hey, one question I get for siding installation is how do I add insulation to my home? Some, some products such as insulated vinyl already come with insulation form fit to it. But not every community and every home is ready for a vinyl siding. If you're looking more for a James Hardie Fiber Cement or an LP SmartSide, which is an engineered wood product, these inherently do not come with insulation or fit to the back of them.
So what you can do is install a rigid foam. And a rigid foam is like a half of inch foam that you can put over the top of your plywood. And what that will do is it will eliminate or reduce thermal bridging that happens at home. Thermal bridging is when the heat loss goes right through the studs. We have insulation between our studs, but we do not have insulation over the top of the studs.
So when you're able to add that rigid foam And then your siding, you're gonna get an R two or R three over the top.
