Guy Ben Shushan: The Art of Discipline

With more than two decades of experience in building and project management, Guy Ben Shushan has built a career around improving how people experience the construction process. His background as an industrial and management engineer laid the foundation for that approach and ultimately led to the creation of Golden View Renovation.

Alongside his business partners, Guy set out to build a company that addressed common gaps in the industry. “We saw an opportunity to raise the standard,” he explains. “Too many contractors separate design from execution, and that disconnect often leads to mistakes, delays, and frustration for clients.”

Golden View Renovation was designed to be different. By integrating in-house design services, maintaining close relationships with trusted subcontractors and placing a strong emphasis on pre-construction planning, the company delivers a more streamlined and controlled process. “We prepare so we don’t have to leave things to chance,” affirms Guy. “Construction doesn’t have to be stressful. When it’s done right, it should feel organized, clear and even exciting for the client.”

For Guy, the most rewarding part of his job is seeing the impact that his work has on his clients. “Every finished project still excites me,” he affirms. “We’re not just building structures—we’re creating spaces where people live their lives.”

Originally working across multiple regions, Guy has spent the past five years in the Bay Area and currently lives in San Jose, where he finds inspiration in both his professional and personal environment. “There’s a level of drive and humility here that’s rare,” he says. “Being around people who are constantly pushing themselves makes me want to do the same.”

Outside of work, Guy is deeply committed to discipline and personal growth. A dedicated athlete, he trains consistently and embraces an active lifestyle, often spending time outdoors. “Discipline isn’t something you turn on and off—it’s something you build every day,” he says.

That philosophy carries into how Guy approaches his life and runs his business. “I believe that what you put out into the world comes back to you,” he offers. “Be intentional, treat people right and invest in becoming the best version of yourself. That’s what creates real success.”

Q: What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?
A: I crossed India by motorcycle for several months. It pushed me mentally and physically, and it’s something I’ll never forget.

Q: Are you a dog person or a cat person?
A: A dog person. They provide endless love, they’re clever and they make people happy.

Q: Coffee or tea?
A: Black coffee.

Q: What’s the first thing you’d do if you could retire tomorrow?
A: I don’t believe in retirement, so I would just keep creating and building while dedicating more time to my family.
