Here are tips on how to work with your neighbors on a fence project. One thing people don't always think about in a fence project is your neighbor. If you're sharing a fence line, start with a simple conversation. Just go over and say, Hey, I'm thinking that we're replacing a fence. Would you want to be a part of it?

Sometimes they're open to it, especially if you show them a couple different style options and materials. 

The key to keeping things calm and respectful. Even if you don't agree on everything, let them share their thoughts because both of you're trying to get to the same goal. And remember that your tone is more important than you think. Stay positive and the whole process go smoother. 

And remember, not everyone is in the same financial situation, so they may or may not be ready to split the cost, and that's okay. At the end of the day, fences matter, but your relationship with your neighbor is much more important.
