We often get questions about the best way to use a new heat pump system. One of the best tips that I can give is once the thermostat program is set by the installing technician, let it be. Unlike a traditional gas-fired system, which can rapidly heat the home, the heat pump systems are designed to make small, incremental adjustments throughout the day to maintain your optimum comfort temperature. If you try to use it like a traditional gas system, you will not get the performance or efficiency that you were expecting, and you will end up giving us a call and having to have a technician out. Following these guidelines will maximize the efficiency of your new system, and that should translate to your PG&E bill when all is said and done.
