Video: HVAC Zoning Benefits

Have you ever considered zoning your HVAC system? In fact, do you even know what zoning means? So essentially zoning is taking a traditional ducted system, whether heat pump or gas-fired, and cutting it into smaller conditionable sections. For example, in my home, I have two stories. So when the family is downstairs, we like to keep that warm, but we don't want to be spending money conditioning the upstairs, which is unoccupied. Similarly, when we go to bed at night, we don't wanna be heating the downstairs for no reason. So with zoning, I can cut off the two floors. They're separately conditioned. Each one has its own thermostat, own set of controls. I also hooked it up to Wi-Fi so that I can turn it on and off from my bed, which really helps both with PG&E bills and with the comfort of the home. So if you haven't considered this option and you think that there might be an application, consider it.
