If you routinely find that one flush isn't enough, you'll be glad to know there's a simple solution to this common toilet problem. Today we're in San Francisco with diamond certified expert contributor Mustafa Sawada of One Source Plumbing to learn more. A common problem with older toilets is that when you flush them, they don't flush everything out in one time. Sometimes you need to do them two to three times. The reason behind that is that the main water pipe in the street has a lot of pressure that distributes water to all the houses. When it has holes in it, it doesn't leak, it sucks the sand in. That sand gets carried away and it ends up in your tanks, water heater tank, and your toilet tank, and those small holes in your toilet bowl. When you flush the toilet, those small holes get clogged with sand. So instead of the toilet flushing two gallons per flush in five seconds, now it's doing it in nine seconds. So it's flushing the same amount of water but the tackle is slower, and that's the reason why you're flushing more than once. So if you take a pin hole or a pen or a pencil and go through the jet holes on your bowl where the water come out and clean them once every six months, you should not have this problem.
