>> So, everything started when I was, uh, 15 years old, when my dad asked me if I wanted to, uh, go to work during the weekends. So, I said, "You know what? Let's try. Let's, let's find out how these things work." So, uh, we went to work for a couple of weekends, and it was kind of fun at the beginning because I saw my dad, you know, operating the excavator, the backhoe, uh, putting the straight lines, too, uh, reading the blueprints. And so, when I met, uh, his boss, it was like, uh, something that opened up my mind. Like, "You know what? I think this is something that I want to do in the future. I want to be like your boss." And that's how everything started. That's how I got into this industry, and so far, I'm here. Uh, my family. My family inspired me to get into this business because, uh, I want to leave them a legacy. I want to leave them with a better future than the one I got. And also, this inspired me so much when I started seeing my friends from high school. They started doing their own business, uh, different types of business, not just construction, but some of them got involved in construction. So, I saw them and how they were growing up little by little, and then they became, like, uh, a company in a big industry. Uh, one of them is also a concrete contractor, and I have known him for a very long time. So, I was thinking, you know what? I'm wasting my time just keeping on working and not finding a path that I want to be on. So, I said, if they did it, I can do it, too. And then that's how everything started. Uh, I would say my favorite thing is when I finish a project. Because, uh, you know, that's the satisfaction you feel when a customer is happy and they say, "You know what, Eduardo, you guys did a great job. I like how you finished my concrete, all the details, all the time you took to explain to me every step of the way." And I'm so happy to see them, you know, smile because I know they're going to bring me more customers. Plus, it's going to become more than business; a relationship between a customer and me. So, that's the thing that makes me happy about doing my work. Uh, yeah, this came to my mind this morning. So, I was, uh, one of my customers, uh, he has a supermarket all over, uh, San Jose. And he hired a contractor to do, uh, a drain. Uh, I don't know if you know, but every freezer in the supermarket must have a drain because somehow they kind of leak from the cold that is inside, and they forgot to put a drain inside. So, this thing was getting so much water inside of it, and then it started having a lot of problems with getting the products, you know, from the freezer. He called me, "Hey Ed." They call me Ed. He called me Ed. So, I said, "Yeah, what's going on?" His name is, uh, David. "Hey David, what's going on?" "Hey, you know what? I hired a contractor when I started doing this project, but we kind of misunderstood the conversation about putting a drain inside the freezer. So, I'm calling you because I know you're very specific in these types of jobs, and you kind of take the time to do it." I'm going to say, "Okay, okay, let's do it." So, we started doing that, but it was kind of fun because we could not stay inside the freezer for more than 5 minutes. It was like super, super cold. And so, we started cutting the concrete, demoing that concrete, and then let's go back outside the freezer, and then stay there for a couple of minutes, and then we get warmed up, and then go back, and start digging, removing the dirt, and then again, go outside the freezer, same process. And it took us probably about 2 days to finish that. And it was kind of challenging, but at the same time, it was fun because me and my crew, we took this as a challenge project. And we finished up the next day, so we installed the drain pipe, we covered it with waste rock, and then we put insulation on it, and then rebar, and then concrete, and then finished it. So, it was a challenging and a fun job to do. I would say my company is different from others because I take pride in what I'm doing. And besides doing business, I like to know more about the customer, like the type of customer he is, if he likes dogs, or like specific questions. So, I like to get more involved in the customer's life to know what he is looking for, like what type of project he is looking for. We are not just here, you know, making business and doing this thing and that. So, that's what I like more, to get involved with the customer. It has to be something specific. So, I like to make them feel comfortable, like you can trust me, like I'm going to do your project 100% right, and I like to explain to them everything, like everything. I am a very transparent and honest guy. I show them everything by writing. I don't hide anything. So, so far, it worked for me and for the customer. So, I would say this is one of the key points that I apply in my business. >>
