How to Get Something Out of an Unnecessary Service Call

I had noticed an unusual amount of standing water in the bottom of the washer. I kept scooping out the water with a baster yet it returned after every cycle. My DIY approach (after watching a YouTube video) was to check inside the filter area to see if the impeller was blocked. It wasn’t as far as I could tell, but I kept seeing water buildup. I wanted it checked out before I had a flood in my kitchen.

The repair technician ran a few cycles and said water not draining is completely “normal” and the earlier problem I described may have been caused by something as small as a lemon seed. Realizing that I would have to pay for a service call even though no repairs were needed, I asked if I could pick his brain about two other appliances while he was there. My gas stove was running too hot and my refrigerator was making loud noises intermittently. The good news is those appliances don’t need to be repaired or replaced…yet. I only need a new oven thermometer and he said the refrigerator might last a few more years, but it’s definitely on its last legs. The cost of repairing the condenser or compressor won’t be worth it when they fail. He told me how to listen for impending failure so I knew what to expect from those appliances in the near future. Boy, did I get my money’s worth!

Use Diamond Certified Resource to find top rated companies

Local, Top Rated Diamond Certified Companies Related to Your Topic
Sonoma County Appliance Showrooms
Napa County Appliance Showrooms
Contra Costa County Appliance Repair Companies
Marin County Appliance Repair Companies
Alameda County Appliance Repair Companies

Related Articles
The Homeowner's Guide to Home Appliances
Get Expert Advice From Owners of Top Rated Local Companies
Become a Diamond Certified Preferred Member (Always Free)
