While you wait to see if you got the job, take the following steps to make sure you’ll meet labor compliance:

Confirm that your registration with the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) is current.

Confirm if the project has a PLA or Skilled & Trained Workforce requirement.

Obtain the project information using the DIR Project ID. This provides you with the official project name, owner, county, first advertised bid date (so you can obtain the proper pay rates), GC, etc.

Congratulations, you have been awarded the public works project! Before you get to work, set your project up for success by making sure you maintain compliance with all legal requirements. Here are a few important steps to complete:

Within 10 days of receiving your contract, submit your DAS 140 to the apprenticeship program. Make sure to state the estimated apprentice hours to meet the ratio requirements with your craft.

Prepare your fringe benefits statement using the information from the DIR Project ID. Provide your payroll department with a copy of your fringe benefits statement so they know the rates to pay employees who work on the job.

Request apprentices at least 72 hours prior to the start date.

Once your employees are paid, take the next steps to issue certified payroll, pay fringe benefits and provide the monthly reports.

By maintaining compliance throughout your project, you’ll save time, show that you’re reliable and provide peace of mind for all parties involved.

Use Diamond Certified Resource to find top rated companies.

Related Articles
The Essential Guide to Business Services
Get Expert Advice From Owners of Top Rated Local Companies
Become a Diamond Certified Preferred Member (Always Free)
