Sung Park: A Colorful Life
By Caitlyn Stair, Diamond Certified Research Reporter
For Sung Park, painting isn’t just about changing colors on a wall—it’s about helping people create spaces that truly feel like home. Whether he’s guiding homeowners through color choices or checking the details of their projects, he believes quality work starts with patience, care and understanding their visions.
Sung first got involved in painting when he was just 14 years old, when he started working alongside his father on handyman and painting jobs. Over time, he gradually took on bigger responsibilities and gained a deeper understanding of the trade. His father, who ran a paint crew for many years, became the biggest influence on his career and taught him the value of hard work, consistency, and craftsmanship.
After the COVID-19 pandemic slowed his work opportunities, Sung realized it was time to turn his experience into a business of his own. “I wasn’t doing much, so I decided to take the test and get licensed,” he recalls. He said starting out wasn’t easy, but he leaned heavily on his father’s experience with scheduling, labor and managing projects.
Today, as owner of Creation Painting, Sung focuses on helping homeowners bring their painting ideas to life. “The process really starts with their ideas, and then I’ll guide them with what kinds of colors and finishes to use,” he explains. “I like taking the time to do everything right so we don’t have to come back and fix anything.”
For Sung, the most rewarding parts of his job are the connections he builds with clients and the transformations that take place along the way. He enjoys seeing people get excited about their projects and appreciates the emotional impact a well-designed space can have. “I love meeting new people and bringing their jobs to life,” he says. “A good paint job makes a house feel like a home.”
Outside of work, Sung enjoys a laid-back lifestyle in Los Gatos, where he has lived for more than a decade. Much of his free time revolves around simple routines and spending time with friends. “It’s very quiet and calm here, so I like taking walks around the block or heading downtown,” he says.
At the core of Sung’s professional philosophy is a commitment to slowing down and paying attention to details. By encouraging his team to focus on quality workmanship, he makes sure his clients are satisfied long after their painting projects are complete.
