Shant Hagopian: One Tint at a Time
By Caitlyn Stair, Diamond Certified Reporter
For Shant Hagopian, window tinting has always been more than a job—it’s a craft that challenges him, keeps each day unique, and allows him to grow a business that’s rooted in family and experience.
Shant was first introduced to the window tint industry in 2010, when a friend invited him to help with some auto tinting side work that gradually gained momentum. “He kind of introduced me to the craft, but it was just another revenue stream back then,” he reflects. “We started doing it here and there to get our feet wet, but the business kept growing.”
Shant transitioned to residential and commercial window tinting during the COVID-19 pandemic, but his involvement with CHBB goes back much further. The company was originally started by his family and Shant learned the trade through hands-on experience, which led to his eventual takeover. “I had a family member who owned an auto glass shop, and I moved here to learn the ropes with them,” he recalls. “When another family member decided to move, that’s when I purchased the business.”
Today, Shant says one of the most rewarding parts of his job is seeing the variety of reasons that customers come in for window tinting, from improving their comfort to protecting their space. “I love coming in every day and knowing it’s going to be unique. I get to talk to different people with different needs, which keeps things fun and exciting.”
Originally from Chicago, Shant moved to the Bay Area in 2003 and currently resides in Dublin with his wife, Nessreen. Although his roots will always be those of a Chicagoan (which means he’ll always root for his Chicago Bears), he attends many local sports events and cheers for Bay Area teams in his free time.
When it comes to his life and work, Shant lives by a simple philosophy: Live life to the fullest. “Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, so you shouldn’t put things off,” he offers. “After all, you never know what the next day will bring.”
Ask Me Anything!
Q: What’s the first thing you’d do if you could retire tomorrow?
A: I would probably leave California and just see where I end up. I don’t know if I would move back to Chicago, but I do have a few family members in the Las Vegas area.
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do on a rainy day?
A: Sit back and catch up on a TV show or watch a movie. I also like going out to have a nice, warm dinner.
Q: What’s your favorite holiday?
A: Christmas. I have fond memories of getting spoiled with gifts by my aunts and uncles when I was growing up.
Q: What’s your favorite sports team?
A: The Chicago Cubs.
Q: If you could splice your DNA with any animal, what would you choose?
A: A lion or a tiger. I’m a mellow person, but sometimes I think having more feistiness in my personality would help.
