Ryan Symons: Evolution of a Vision
By Caitlyn Stair, Diamond Certified Research Reporter
For Ryan Symons, every outdoor space is an opportunity to build something that evolves, grows and adds lasting value over time. With a hands-on approach and a sharp eye for opportunity, he has transformed hard work into a business that expands alongside his clients’ needs.
Ryan first stepped into the landscaping industry with a clear focus and a willingness to learn. Over time, that foundation grew into something more, shaped by experience, adaptability and a drive to keep improving his craft.
In 2017, Ryan officially launched Symons Landscaping with a focus on maintenance work. As demand increased, so did his vision for the business. “I started as a strictly maintenance-focused company, but it grew rapidly,” he says. “As we took on more clients, I began handling small installation projects alongside our maintenance work. I quickly realized that to really grow and meet demand, I needed to get my contractor’s license, which I did as soon as possible.”
Today, Ryan focuses on delivering high-quality landscape construction services that combine functionality with long-term appeal. By shifting his business toward installations, he has been able to take on larger, more complex projects while continuing to meet the evolving needs of his clients.
A resident of San Lorenzo, Ryan says he feels a deep connection to his East Bay community. “I’ve lived in the Bay Area for most of my life, and I love the diversity and unbeatable location. From the culture to the scenery, it’s hard to imagine living anywhere else. And of course, the food is a major highlight…especially the tacos.”
Family plays a central role in Ryan’s life—he’s married to his high school sweetheart, Christine, and they have a daughter who just started her own high school experience. “She’s an incredible cheerleader and she also plays lacrosse,” he adds. “Family means everything to me, so I’m proud of the strong, supportive bond we share.”
When he’s not working, Ryan enjoys staying active and unwinding with hobbies that keep him engaged. “I like watching sports and spending time with family and friends,” he details. “My favorite hobby is playing golf, but I also like tinkering with machines and anything that has a motor. There’s something satisfying about figuring out how things work and fixing them.”
In both his career and personal life, Ryan abides by a simple, altruistic philosophy. “I believe that if you work hard and treat people right, everything else will fall into place,” he offers. “If you stay committed and do honest work, good things will come back to you.”
