Moe Amini: Brotherly Love

For Moe Amini, his twin brother Mike and their younger brother Matt, the foundation of Craftsmen’s Guild, Inc. has always been family. The company’s origins trace back to 1976, when Moe decided to combine his background in finance, marketing and management with Mike’s architecture expertise and Matt’s civil engineering experience. “We knew it could work because we each got our education in different areas of construction,” he says. “We wanted to have a company that could design a project, engineer it and build it.”

Today, Moe oversees Craftsmen’s Guild’s financial operations, office management, purchasing, advertising and marketing, while Mike and Matt focus on their respective areas of expertise. This arrangement has allowed each brother to build a career around what he enjoys most. “I like managing our marketing and advertising because it’s what I went to school for,” says Moe. “I really want to do this for the rest of my life.”

After five decades in the construction industry, Moe still sees plenty of professional opportunities throughout the Bay Area. “There are lots of older houses here that need to be renovated, so homeowners often turn to us to handle that,” he says. “We love upgrading homes to meet people’s modern needs.”

Moe also believes a successful renovation isn’t only measured by the immediate results, so he takes pride in hearing from clients years after their projects were completed. “I was at a home and garden show recently and a woman came up to me and said, ‘Do you remember me? You did a great job for me 20 years ago and I’m still very happy with it,’” he recalls. “Those types of interactions make me proud.”

Indeed, customer satisfaction is at the center of Moe’s professional approach. He encourages his team to pay close attention to details and treat the renovation process as a collaboration rather than simply telling homeowners what to do. “We want our clients to be happy with their renovations, so we include them in the design process as much as possible,” he says. “Ultimately, they should be involved in every decision.”

A longtime resident of Saratoga, Moe says he appreciates the diverse opportunities and community activities that come with life in the South Bay. Outside of work, he enjoys going to the gym, swimming, and spending time with his daughter and extended family.

When it comes to a guiding philosophy, Moe believes in the power of cooperation. “At the end of the day, I just want to create outcomes that our clients can feel good about,” he affirms. “Customer satisfaction is always the goal.”

Q: What’s the first thing you’d do if you could retire tomorrow?
A: I would get a part-time job in management or something. I don’t want to be fully retired until I can’t physically work anymore.

Q: If you could immediately travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A: Paris, France.

Q: If you could time-travel, would you go to the past or the future?
A: The past. I’d like to relive coming to America from Iran, going to school, getting a job and having success.

Q: What’s your favorite holiday?
A: Christmas. We get together as a family, have fun and celebrate Jesus.
