Chad Withrow: Service-Centered
By Matt Solis, Editor
For Chad Withrow, working in HVAC wasn’t part of some lifelong plan—it was simply the next natural step in a service-centered career. “I’ve always believed that regardless of the industry, your job is to put the customer’s needs first,” he says. “When I ended up at Art’s Heating & Cooling in 2022, I knew I had found a company culture that mirrored my values. We exist to serve our customers, not the other way around.”
As Art of Comfort’s chief operating officer, Chad says he’s proud to work alongside colleagues he describes as the very best in their fields. “From the installers to the service techs to the marketing staff, I’m always impressed by our team’s professionalism and dedication. It’s a privilege to serve next to them every day and witness how good they are at their day-to-day work.”
A lifelong resident of the Fresno area, Chad currently lives in the small town of Coarsegold, where he enjoys the peace and space of the foothills just outside of the big city. “We get the mountain town vibe, but we’re still close enough to Fresno for an easy commute,” he says. “I also really like the sense of community in this area. We get to interact with our friends and neighbors every day, and that’s a great feeling.”
As the father of three daughters, Chad’s schedule is unsurprisingly packed with work and parenting responsibilities, but he also makes time for simple pleasures like fishing and skeet shooting. However, he’s quick to point out that spending time with his children is more than enough to keep him happy. “I really look forward to being with my daughters, whether that means cooking dinner for them every night or taking them to church on Sundays,” he details. “They’re the pride of my life.”
In terms of a personal or professional philosophy, Chad turns to the wisdom of Benjamin Franklin. “He said, ‘An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure,’ and I think you can apply that to virtually anything in your life,” he offers. “People call it ‘firefighting’—when circumstances happen, you react to them and try to calm the flames. But if you take a bit more time on the front end to help prevent potential obstacles, that’s always going to be worth it.”
When asked what his life might look like if he retired tomorrow, Chad admits he can’t imagine a world where he’s not serving a purpose. “I can’t really see myself fully retiring because I need somewhere to go and someone to talk to,” he says. “I thrive on being part of a team, so I would probably find something new to occupy myself, even if it was part-time.”
