Alfonso Garcia: A Strong Foundation
By Matt Solis, Editor
For Alfonso Garcia, construction wasn’t just a career choice—it was a calling that came from hands-on experience and a natural sense of curiosity. “I started around 2004 while working at a home care facility in Pacifica,” he recalls. “I was helping remodel their rooms and realized how much I enjoyed it. Eventually, I became the environmental services director and started taking on more remodeling projects on my own. Since I was working in a hospital setting, I had to learn all the California building codes and regulations, so that gave me a strong foundation.”
After leaving the health care industry, Alfonso transitioned into full-time construction work and spent a decade learning every aspect of the trade before establishing Caza General Construction, LLC in 2023. Today, he says the most rewarding part of his job is seeing his clients’ ideas come to life. “I love how we can take a house that’s completely rundown and make it beautiful again. It’s amazing to see people’s reactions when they realize how much their homes have changed. That moment of gratitude makes all the hard work worth it.”
Originally from Mexico, Alfonso currently lives in Vacaville with his wife, Christine, and their four children. “I lived in Half Moon Bay when I first came to the United States, then we moved to Redwood City and even San Diego for a while before ending up in Vacaville,” he details. “We love it here—it’s a great place for our family.”
Outside of work, Alfonso dedicates most of his free time to his number one passion: music. “I’ve been DJing for many years and I used to sing in a Mexican band, so music is definitely my escape,” he explains. “I had to stop because of time and family responsibilities, but music will always be part of my life.”
When asked what his life might look like if he retired tomorrow, Alfonso says he would take time to explore the world with his family. “Sometimes I’m so busy with work that we don’t even take summer vacations or they end up going without me, so it would be nice to change that. But my goal is to retire at an early age, so it’s going to be worth it.”
