Alexander Rosov: Climbing to Success
By Matt Solis, Editor
When Alexander Rosov moved from Israel to the Bay Area in 2012, he brought a background in electronics and a passion for hands-on problem solving, so when a friend introduced him to appliance repair, he was immediately hooked. “I worked for him for about three years and found that I really liked the trade, so I decided to branch out on my own,” he recalls. “Zuta Appliance Repair has given me the opportunity to help people and work in a way that’s comfortable for me.”
For Alexander, appliance repair work is as rewarding as it is technical. “When someone thinks they have to replace a major appliance and I can fix it for a fraction of the cost, it really makes a difference,” he says. “Also, when you fix something instead of replacing it, it means less waste, which is important to me. It feels good to save a machine from the landfill.”
A resident of Martinez, Alexander appreciates the peace and quiet of life in Northern Contra Costa County, but when it comes to free time, he and his wife, Ilana, prefer the excitement of the outdoors. “We like camping, rock climbing and taking road trips to explore new places,” he details. “There’s always somewhere new to climb, especially in California, Arizona and Utah. Our favorite spot for camping is Saline Valley Hot Springs in Death Valley—we go there twice a year.”
When asked what his life might look like if he retired tomorrow, Alexander says he would make a beeline to the beach. “I would buy a place in a tropical country and just relax. I’d probably do some traveling as well, but I’d come back to somewhere quiet with warm water.”
