Video: Reasons to Change Your HVAC Filter

with Marcus Muller of Hassler Heating & Air Conditioning, LLC

Common question we're asked, why should I change my filter frequently? You know, I say personally change it every one to three months. Why is that important? There's three reasons why. We'll start with reason number one, improve system efficiency. One eighth inch of dust on your system can decrease your system's efficiency by almost 30%.

That's a lot, which ends up costing us a lot of dollars. So keeping your system clean requires us to change your filter. That's reason number one, why you need to change your filter. Reason number two, extend your system's lifespan, but that extra layers of dirt on your system on top of having a filter that's dirty will create a system that is working way harder than it's supposed to.

That in turn is gonna reduce its normal lifespan. The average lifespan for a system is 10 to 15 years. We want to be able to get the most out of that, get those years out of it if possible. So change your filter is gonna help that happen. And reason number three, improve indoor air quality. The human body sheds about 40,000 skid cells every minute.

That's a lot of dead ski and hair floating around in your house. The filter's main job is to catch all that, to be the catch all. So if your filter's not being changed regularly, you get up, build up, build up. That's all gonna be floating in your Airstream in your home. You are gonna be breathing it, it's gonna be laying on your fans and your, and your ceiling on your registers, and that's all, that's all really bad for when it comes to your breathing air inside your home, which already is polluted.

So if you have any questions about those type of things, home comfort, indoor air quality. Making sure you have the right filter in your system, which everybody should, and every house is a little bit different. Please feel free to give us a call here at Hassler when we take the hassle outta home comfort.

Nice talking to you.
