Video: Paint Rooms in the Right Order

So one bit of advice I would like to tell people when they're, they take on painting their own home, is the order in which you should start and finish. If you're painting the whole house, ceiling, walls, and trim, you should always start off by painting the ceiling first. Once the ceiling's done, you have either the choice to do the trim or do the walls.

In my expertise, I would do the trim first and then the walls, so that you could get a nice clean line between the trim and walls, ensuring that the place looks just nice and clean, nice lines, which is what everybody wants. So the reason why you wanna do the ceiling first is so that when you paint the walls, it's easier to put tape on the ceiling, paint the wall, take the tape off, and now you have a nice clean line.

If you start with the walls, the line's not gonna be as perfect. It's not gonna look as straight, and you're gonna basically beat yourself up about it.
