Today we're gonna talk about what happens when your garage isn't closing and you wanna be able to secure it. A lot of customers call panicking, "My garage door isn't closing. I need to be able to secure it." And they trying to schedule an emergency appointment that will cost them an arm and a leg to come out and look at their door in the middle of the night.
But 9 out of 10 times, when your garage door is not closing, the culprit is the safety sensors on the door. Um, two things for you to check is, first, you wanna check for obstruction. A lot of the times all it is is, could be a trash bin blocking the safety sensor, it could be spiderwebs, it could be a safety sensor that got slightly knocked out of adjustment.
Either one of those is a really easy fix and does not require to get a garage door company on site. Try those first. Make sure that all of the safety sensors are aligned and free of obstruction. If it's still not closing, make sure your door is in the tracks and it's level. And in that case, if that does not work, you can pull on the emergency release and close the door by hand manually, assuming that your door is okay.
Another way that you could address a safety sensor preventing door from closing is by pressing and holding the button on the wall. By doing so, you are overriding your safety sensor, and it should close the door as long as you keep your finger pressed on the push button. Those three things are the first thing to check and if all these things were attempted and door is still not closing, give us a call today.
