What I'd like to address is torsion springs, and one of the doors that's most popular now is sectional doors, so in sections that roll up overhead. And those are counterbalanced with torsion springs, and those are the springs that run across the top of the door. So the most common call we get is people say that they can't get the door open and they have a broken spring.&nbsp; Springs are very important, and a torsion spring is kind of an interesting deal. It has to be the correct spring to the door. You don't just stretch it further if it's heavier. It's not that way. They also are pretty dangerous. we don't tell people they can't work on them, but we don't talk people into working on them. It's probably best to have someone that does that for a living That's a professional. It's not something that you can get in a hardware store. The olden days of an extension spring on a one piece door are long gone.

well one thing that I'd like to be sure
that we cover is is the maintenance on a
door it's the largest moving object on
the house uh no matter what you buy or
who you buy it from it's not
maintenance-free just like an automobile
you can buy the most expensive car it
still takes maintenance so the
maintenance is important the frequency
of that probably every couple years
maybe a little longer depending on you
know how often it gets used one of the
things that's changed is is now it's
state law since about the last 3 years
that all your openers have to have
battery backup so we see more and more
with battery backup and the other thing
that's kind of nice about that is is not
only are you never where you can't get
the door open but the other side of that
is is that about the time the batteries
need to be changed is a good time to do
the service so for you know 3 4 years in
that range you can have the whole system
gone over and see that everything's in
good shape just like some of the other
major appliances you'd have in your home
