One suggestion if you're trying to replace your own, own windows, um, and it's a siding house with wood trim, I've had a few customers call me where they wanna do retrofit windows there. That is not a good idea. So a retrofit window would be where the old window stays in place. You take out the sliding part, part, the middle mullion and the, uh, fixed glass, and you slide in a new window in a, in the same place.
So the window's actually gonna be smaller, um, and most of the time companies will put a vinyl self-sticking strip on the inside to cover, to cover the gap. And a nail-on window is traditional where there's a nailing fin, door gets caulked, flashed, and nailed to the framing, um, to where it's much, much more waterproof.
It'd be better to pull the trim, um, cut the siding back, pull the old window out, and put a, a, a real nail-on window to where it gets flashed and caulked and much more waterproofing. If you put a retrofit window, um, on a wood structure and there's trim, the moisture's gonna be trapped in the trim, um, get dry rot, and the window's gonna leak on the inside.
