Video: Vetting a Roofing Contractor

Yeah, I think I think vetting out a contractor and doing some extra research is something that's uh very important and especially in today's age with Google reviews and Yelp reviews. I can tell you as a business, I get contacted two to three times a week by somebody trying to sell me Google reviews. Unfortunately, natural review sites aren't as reliable as they used to be. That's one thing that's really cool about Diamond Certified is they actually do a lot of that research for you. But there's a lot of simple things you can do as a homeowner. You can check the license name and number and make sure that the name of the owner matches the license and also make sure that the general liability insurance and workers comp matches the owner. A lot of contractors will use another contractor's license and use that to apply for permits, but you're actually having an unlicensed contractor um working on your home. It's very easy to go to the contractor state license board, put the license number in, you'll see if there's any complaints. Uh you'll see if the license number matches. probably takes you 30 seconds as a homeowner, but I know 90% of homeowners don't. They skip this step because they're just looking at Google reviews. But just do a little bit of extra research, check his insurance, check his license, make sure everything checks out, make sure there's no financial complaints or uh work complaints against the contractor.
