I would highly recommend Westshore Roofing if you need any sort of a repair done, or you're in need of a new roof completely.

They did great work, they were responsible, they answered the phone whenever I called, and they stuck to the price they quoted me. I pretty much think they held up their end of the bargain.

I think people should always get another quote, just to make sure you're getting the best deal. Speaking for myself, I think Westshore gave me a nice, competitive rate.

The project manager was very supportive about the special requirements that I had. He made good suggestions about the types of products that would meet my needs. I didn't want to have Oriented Strand Board for the paneling. I wanted to get CDX plywood so there would be less ridge capping on the roof. He reserved my special supply of the CDX plywood that had radiant backing to help reduce the heat that goes into my house.

Company Philosophy

“Our commitment to achieving total customer satisfaction on each project is paramount. We approach our customers with honesty and professionalism. Ultimately, we value building a great company that is remembered for serving Bay Area homeowners for years to come.”

Comparative Summary

Maintaining customer satisfaction is a crucial aspect of any business, but it’s even more important for roofing companies that have earned the prestigious Diamond Certified award. For Westshore Roofing, Inc., achieving and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction is a direct result of the comprehensive approach it takes to every phase of every roofing project, from the initial inspection to the finishing touches. “Everything we do reflects our desire to completely satisfy each customer,” confirms Project Manager Steve Pustelnik. “Ultimately, our goal is to be the best roofing company in the Bay Area.”

Westshore Roofing has been installing and repairing all types of roofs for residential clients in Santa Clara, San Mateo and Alameda Counties since 1992. In addition to working on metal, composition, clay tile, wood shake and energy-efficient roofing systems, the family-owned and operated company installs seamless gutters, insulates attics, performs onsite roof inspections and more.

Unlike less experienced roofing companies that take a “one size fits all” approach to projects in an effort to reduce operating costs, Westshore Roofing customizes each project to meet the client’s exact requirements, which, according to co-owner Paul Fowler, is imperative for producing high-quality results. “We listen to our customers’ wishes, educate them on energy efficiency and warranties, and let them make the final decisions,” he explains. “This process ensures our clients get the best roofs for their particular situations and are 100 percent satisfied with the results of their projects.”

Another distinguishing characteristic of Westshore Roofing is its unwavering dedication to quality control throughout each step of the installation process, which includes providing every project with the detailed supervision of Mr. Fowler himself. “I’ve installed more than 400 roofs over the course of my career, so I know exactly what it takes to produce first-rate results,” he says. “Our dedication to craftsmanship gives us an edge when it comes to installing high-quality roofs that last for years.”

Industry Info

Make sure metal roofing is the right choice for your home before making a final decision.

With its numerous environmental and economical benefits, metal roofing has become increasingly popular with homeowners since being introduced to America two decades ago. But just like any roofing material, it isn’t a perfect match for every house. To determine if metal roofing is right for your particular situation, consider the following information.

Durability. Metal roofs don’t burn, rot, crack, peel or lose shingles. In addition to being impervious to rain and hail, they’re resistant to corrosion, fire and sparks, wind, and snow. Additionally, special coatings can extend a metal roof’s lifespan to 100 years with virtually no maintenance or repairs.

Lightweight. Most metal roofs weigh about one-third less than asphalt roofs, which means they can be installed on older buildings and large buildings that require lighter roofs.

Environmentally-friendly. Many metal roofs are made of recycled materials and last much longer than traditional roofs, which means they don’t need to be replaced and sent to landfills. Additionally, some types of metal roofs can be installed directly over existing asphalt or shingle roofs.

Energy-efficient. Metal roofs are much more energy-efficient than traditional asphalt shingles and can significantly lower a homeowner’s heating and cooling costs. Cool metal roofing is also available—it reflects most of the sun’s rays and keeps homes cooler than asphalt shingles, which absorb heat.

Choices. Metal roofs come in thousands of combinations of style, color, finishes and coatings. This means you’re virtually guaranteed to find the right fit for your home.

Increase home value. Not only does metal roofing increase the curb appeal of a home, it also offers greater value for buyers who realize they won’t have to repair or reshingle their roofs for as long as they retain ownership.

Possible discounts. Some insurance companies recognize the value of metal roofs and offer discounts on insurance coverage because of the lessened fire and water damage hazards. Additionally, tax credits may apply to many kinds of metal roofs. Talk to your insurance agent and roofing company for more details.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long will my job take to complete?
A: “That depends on the weather, the condition of your roof, the roofing materials you choose and the city in which your house is located. Different materials take longer to install, and some cities have inspection processes that take much longer than others. Depending on the time of year and the size of the job, it can take anywhere from one week to one month. We’ll give you an accurate timeframe during the estimate process.”

Q: How long will my new roof last?
A: “It varies depending on the type of roof. For example, the average lifespan of an asphalt composition roof is 25 to 30 years, but a stone-coated metal roof can last a lifetime.”

Q: Will you help me choose a roofing material and color?
A: “Absolutely. When we come to your home to perform the initial estimate, we’ll show you all the available products and give you brochures so you can see the different color options. It can be difficult to look at a picture of a roofing system and visualize what it’s going to look like on your house, so we always give our clients a list of homes in their neighborhoods so they can see different roofing styles in person.”

Q: Can you help me understand the warranty coverage on my new roof?
A: “Yes. Most roofs come with lifetime manufacturers’ warranties, but all those warranties are prorated, so we’ll sit down with you and explain exactly how that works. Some manufacturers will prorate their warranties after five years, in which case you’d have to pay for any necessary repairs. Also, the older the roof, the more the homeowner is expected to contribute. But some warranties offer up to 50 years of non-prorated coverage, so if you keep up your end of the warranty and the roof is installed according to the manufacturer’s written specifications, everything will be covered. We’re certified in many of the products we offer, so we’re able to offer extended warranties.”

Q: Can I walk on my metal roof?
A: “Yes. When stone-coated steel roofs were first introduced 20 years ago, you had to walk on them in certain places so you didn’t dent the roof or make a shoe impression on the tiles. But now, you can walk on a metal roof and not have to worry about where you step.”

Q: Does my metal roof require special maintenance?
A: “There’s always some type of maintenance associated with any roof, such as keeping gutters clean, periodically sweeping valleys and resealing flashings. However, metal roofs are considered to be virtually maintenance-free.”

They did a high quality job. They actually called me earlier today because they are doing the roof on a house a few streets over that is a similar job to mine. They asked if they could refer the homeowner to take a look at the job they did on my house to get an opinion on their work.

They were prompt, timely, cleaned up well, kept the work area clean, and I was very satisfied with them.

Paul Fowler was very punctual and professional. Whatever time he said he'd start at, he was always right on the money. It was easy to do business with them, and Paul's experience really made the job go easier. I made a big list for him to look over, and he did it with no issue at all. Plus, the guys who did the actual roofing were clearly well-seasoned professionals, and they did a really decent job.
