The only time we have to do that is if you have a custom system or an older system that isn’t manufactured anymore. Q: My garage door only opens a few inches. What’s wrong? A: It’s probably a broken spring, which is a repair for which we can provide same day service. For more on properly maintaining your garage door opener, consider the following tips: <ul> <li>Every garage door opener is designed to reverse direction when the descending door comes into contact with an obstruction. If your door has problems in this situation, the opener’s sensitivity may need to be adjusted. The owner’s manual can tell you how to make the adjustment, but you should also consider having a trained professional perform this service.</li> <li>By law, all garage door openers that were manufactured in the United States before 1993 must include a second safety reversal feature—in most cases, it’s photoelectric eyes that are installed no higher than six inches above the floor and create an invisible beam that, once broken, automatically reverses the door.
