Othmane Najme: Here to Help
By Matt Solis, Editor
When Othmane Najme first arrived in the United States from Morocco, he wasn’t planning on becoming a garage door expert, but that all changed when he began helping a friend who worked in the industry. “I was just giving him a hand for a couple of weeks, but it wasn’t long before I thought, ‘This is the trade I want to get into,’” he recalls. “I started taking on my own jobs within a few months, and eventually I decided to branch out on my own and established Help Garage Door.”
Today, Othmane says his favorite part of his job is the face-to-face interaction with his clientele. “I really enjoy fixing garage doors, but more than that, I like helping people. When I show up to a jobsite, people are happy to see me because they know I’m going to fix their problem, which makes me happy, too.”
A longtime resident of the Sacramento area, Othmane has a deep appreciation for life in River City. “I’ve been here for over 20 years, so it definitely feels like home,” he says. “The weather is great and the people are nice—there’s a real sense of community.”
Outside of work, Othmane devotes most of his free time to his wife, Sarah, and their two daughters. Like many families with young kids, their days are packed with school and extracurricular activities. “Raising kids is like another full-time job,” he laughs. “We love it, though, so we try to stay involved with everything they do.”
When asked what his life might look like if he retired tomorrow, Othmane says his first order of business would be finding somewhere to relax. “I would go somewhere by the beach and just enjoy nature. That’s hard to do right now because I work so much, but I do love my job, so I don’t think it’ll happen any time soon.”
