Octavio Garibay: Piecing it Together
By Caitlyn Stair, Diamond Certified Research Reporter
Octavio Garibay didn’t originally set out to become a plumber, but once he was introduced to the trade, he quickly found himself drawn to the work. The hands-on nature of the job and the challenge of piecing together complex plumbing systems sparked an interest that would eventually shape his career.
Octavio’s first experience with the plumbing industry came in 2000. “I was working with my father-in-law at the time and I fell in love with the trade,” he explains. Later, he joined the plumbers’ union for more than four years before deciding to start his own business.
Today, as owner of OG Plumbing, Octavio finds satisfaction in the unique challenges that each project presents. Whether he’s troubleshooting a complex plumbing issue or mapping out a full repiping project, he enjoys the process of solving his customers’ problems. “It’s like putting a puzzle together from start to finish,” he says. “It’s also very fulfilling to design a blueprint for a system and bring that vision to life.”
A resident of the Bay Area since he was five years old, Octavio currently lives in Napa with his wife, Adriana, and their four children. When he’s not on the job, he enjoys staying active and making the most of Northern California’s variety of outdoor activities, particularly paintballing and snowboarding.
Octavio believes in approaching each project with patience and adaptability. Because plumbing problems often require careful troubleshooting, he says the key to success is staying flexible and working through challenges one step at a time. As he likes to say, “Go with the flow.”
