Nicholas Bobos: Making a Difference
By Julie Deacon, Diamond Certified Research Writer
For Nicholas Bobos, plumbing success comes down to two factors: practical skills and a commitment to solving problems for others. “I’ve always been good with my hands and I like helping people, so I decided to get into plumbing around 1997,” he details. “I found that I got a lot of joy from fixing people’s plumbing issues. When I was able to stop a leak and see the smile on the customer’s face, it gave me a real sense of accomplishment.”
Over time, Nicholas expanded his skill set beyond service plumbing into remodeling work, which ultimately gave him the confidence to break out on his own. “I knew I wanted to have my own company, but I just needed to make sure I was well-rounded enough,” he says. “Once I got that remodeling experience, it was time to start Advanced Plumbing and Drain.”
Today, beyond the technical aspects of plumbing, Nicholas finds meaning in leadership and stability. “My favorite part of the job is seeing my company grow,” he says. “When I walk into a meeting and see the entire team there, I know people are relying on me to keep things progressing, which is important to me.”
A resident of Novato, Nicholas says he appreciates the semi-rural nature of life in the North Bay. He has four children—Christian, Mason, Nathan and Haley—and describes fatherhood as a major grounding force in his life. “My kids definitely keep me busy, but I enjoy it. We do a lot together and I try to stay involved in their lives as much as possible.”
When he’s not working, Nicholas enjoys playing golf, traveling and spending time outdoors. A passionate fisherman, he can often be found on the water near the Golden Gate Bridge and beyond. “I go out on my boat quite a bit,” he says. “It’s peaceful, but it also keeps me alert because I’m always paying attention to weather conditions.”
For Nicholas, integrity isn’t just a value—it’s a standard he applies to everything in both business and life. “Integrity is everything to me,” he affirms. “I always try to do the right thing, even when nobody is watching, and that’s how I expect my guys to work, too. I believe this mindset is what makes our company special.”
