Juan Osorio: Taking in the Views
By Julie Deacon, Diamond Certified Resource Reporter
From the rooftops of the Bay Area, Juan Osorio has spent two decades looking at the region from a different perspective—one project, neighborhood and skyline at a time.
Juan’s journey into the roofing industry began in 2006 after years working in general construction. “My current job was ending and my friend was a roofer, so he invited me to try it,” he recalls. “That’s when it all started, and in 2022, I started J.O Roofing.”
Unlike other construction roles that kept him on a single project for months at a time, roofing offered variety and a sense of freedom. “In other jobs, I stayed in the same place for almost a year, but when I started roofing, I was driving all around the city,” he says. “It was exciting to be in a different place every week.”
That variety, combined with the opportunity to work outdoors, remains one of Juan’s favorite aspects of the roofing trade. “I like being outside and getting fresh air,” he affirms. “Sometimes it’s cold, sometimes it’s hot, sometimes it’s raining, but I like that. And when you’re on a roof, you can see everything from up there.”
Juan has called San Francisco home for more than 20 years, and that local connection carries into his work as he serves homeowners with hands-on experience and a practical approach. One memorable moment came during a recent storm, when a homeowner called with a serious leak. “Her drain was clogged and water was coming into her house,” he explains. “We got there and fixed it, and she was really happy that we came.”
A dedicated family man, Juan enjoys spending most of his free time with his wife, Sandra, and their three children. “On the weekends, I like to walk with my kids, go to the mountains and be around the trees,” he says. “Just spending time with them is my favorite thing.”
In recent years, Juan has also prioritized personal growth and planning the future of J.O Roofing. “I like reading in the morning, and I’ve even started meditating,” he details. “Right now, I’m really focused on the business.”
Whether he’s navigating rooftops or responding to urgent calls, Juan approaches his work with steady dedication and a clear sense of purpose. “I just like working on roofs,” he states. “I like being out there, going to different places and doing something new every week.”
