Dominic Chatham: Hard Work, Honest Plumbing
By Caitlyn Stair, Diamond Certified Research Reporter
For Dominic Chatham, plumbing is about more than fixing pipes—it’s about building relationships and providing dependable service to the community he calls home. A lifelong resident of Northern California, he first got involved in the plumbing industry in 2010 following the birth of his first child. “I needed a career change and one of my friends was a plumber, so he offered me a job,” he recalls. “He actually works for me now!”
In 2023, inspired by a contractor who encouraged him to start his own business, Dominic established Chatham Plumbing LLC. Beginning with a single employee and driven by a mission for success, he found early momentum but quickly realized that running a company meant more than just knowing the trade. “You have to find work for everybody, stay busy and get your name out there,” he offers. “I eventually got the hang of it and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Today, Dominic says his favorite part of his job is building relationships within his community. “I like satisfying our customers and knowing that we’ve left them in better shape than when we arrived. It’s also fun meeting people from different backgrounds. Sometimes I’ll even become friends with them, which I like.”
Outside of work, Dominic spends most of his free time with his family in Hidden Valley, enjoying the quiet countryside where “life moves a little slower.” His wife, Dasha, handles much of the business side of Chatham Plumbing, managing emails and ensuring clients receive invoices and important communications. Recently, their household of four grew to five with the arrival of their newborn child.
When he’s not with his family, Dominic’s biggest passion is drag racing—he builds and tunes his own cars, and he has even traveled as far as Houston, Texas for races. “I like going fast,” he laughs. “It also makes me proud to know that I built something that can do that.” When he’s not working on his racing game, Dominic also stays active by helping his oldest son train during football and baseball season.
From a professional standpoint, Dominic believes in living life in the moment and continuing to move forward, never knowing where the path may lead. “I live my life 10 seconds at a time,” he reflects. “Always put the foot on the pedal and never lift.”
