Standing water is never good. That's why you wanna make sure that your concrete slab has drains spread out evenly. No more than 10 feet usually. You want the right slope. Not too much where you will not be able to put a table on due to it rocking. You wanna use lasers, smart levels to make sure you're within that 2% slope towards each drain, assuring you that you'll still be able to enjoy your slab without having any dips.
Standing water comes from improper preparation. Usually the slope is not good enough, or the stretch from the perimeter to the drain is way too far for the water to travel, or at times the, the slope of the water may be backwards, causing the water to pile up against your foundation. Standing water can cause long-term damage such as erosion, stains on your concrete slab.
The benefits of having the right slope towards drains saves you from having water puddles all over your backyard slab or your driveway and just it being an eyesore.
