Chad Creeden: Here in Northern California we have a lot of tile roofs. The best thing if you own a tile roof is to stay off the tile roof if at all possible. However, with Christmas lights, window washing, painting, and the occasional wayward ball from the kids up on the roof, it’s inevitable that you will eventually have to get up on the roof. When getting up on the roof, the best way to walk on the tiles is to walk on the bottom three inches of the tile where they’re overlapped. This will give you the least chance of breaking the tiles since if you step in the middle there’s nothing to support it, and that’s where they crack and break the easiest.
