Fence Replacement vs. Repair

Maintaining your fence is essential to ensure it continues to serve its purpose and look appealing. Here are three simple steps that can help you decide whether it’s time to repair or replace your fence.

1. Examine the posts. Check each post individually and look for signs of structural damage, rot or instability. If the posts are weak or rotting, it’s often a sign that replacement is necessary.

2. Inspect the rails. Focus on the framing of the fence, which includes both the top and bottom rails. These rails are crucial for the fence’s stability, so if they’re rotting or they show signs of significant damage, it may be time for a replacement.

3. Evaluate the overall condition. If the fence has multiple posts, rails or joints in poor condition, replacement may be the best option for long-term durability. If only a few areas are damaged and the majority of the structure is still in good condition, repairing those sections should suffice.
