Joe Velasquez: High Rising

By James Florence, Diamond Certified Resource Reporter

SAN FRANCISCO – When it came to finding a career, Joe Velasquez did what many have done and followed in his father’s footsteps. However, he also achieved something that’s comparatively rare: He improved upon the legacy that was handed down to him. “My father had a janitorial business, and I started cleaning windows pretty much as soon as I was old enough to walk,” he remembers. Joe eventually joined the Window Cleaners Union, where he spent 17 years working his way up from apprentice to journeyman. By the time he struck out on his own and founded Crystal Clear Window Cleaning, LLC in 2005, he’d acquired the requisite knowledge and experience to take things to the next level. “My father’s business mainly handled homes and smaller buildings, but I wanted to go bigger,” he explains. “So, I expanded my company’s capabilities to encompass high rises and tall buildings.”

Joe was born and raised in San Francisco, where he continues to reside with Sandy, his wife of 28 years. As a father of four and grandfather of nine, much of his free time is devoted to family. “My grandkids range in age from three months to 17 years, and we’re very fortunate to have them all living within the Greater Bay Area,” he says.

Outside of work and family, Joe’s primary interests are traveling and cars. “My wife and I travel regularly and have been to several parts of Europe, including Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Spain,” he says. “I’m also an automobile enthusiast—I go to all the car shows, and I’m hoping to acquire a classic muscle car in the near future.”

As a business owner, Joe believes it’s important to interact with people on a personal level. “When I worked for the Union, all they knew was your name—there wasn’t much regard for the individual,” he explains. “That’s why I like to be a little more personal and genuine with my employees and customers. I treat them fairly and make them feel appreciated.”

When asked the first thing he’d do if he could retire tomorrow, Joe says he’d hit the open road for an extended tour of the United States. “I’ve already been to Europe and other far-off places, so I’d like to buy an RV and see more of this country after I retire.”

If you want quality from a pressure washing company in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area, you can have confidence choosing a Diamond Certified company.

Diamond Certified reports are available online for all certified companies. And you’ll never be fooled by fake reviews. That’s because all research is performed in live telephone interviews of actual customers.

Keep in mind, though, that references provided to you by the pressure washing professional are not equal in value to the large random sample of customers surveyed during the Diamond Certified ratings process. That’s because references given to customers from companies are cherry-picked instead of randomly selected from all their customers. So the contractors will likely give you a few customers to call that they know are satisfied.

If you do call references on your own, specifically ask for a list of the company’s 10 most recent customers. This will help avoid them giving you the names of only customers they know were satisfied.

    1. Did the San Francisco pressure washing company you hired seem interested to your input?
    2. If you need local power washing services in the future, will you consider hiring this company?
    3. Did the pressure washing professional provide answers to questions to your satisfaction?

  • How To Work With
Prepare for Your San Francisco Pressure Washing Company's Arrival

After drawing up the contract, both parties should sign it: the project owner and the local pressure washing company representative. The contract you sign is binding and should protect the interests of both you and your contractor.

For your own protection, never sign a blank or incomplete estimate.

Get all warranties in writing. They should cover the length of time as well as limitations. These written warranties should cover materials and workmanship, along with the names and addresses of the warrantor.

The contract should include the following:

    • The pressure washing company’s name, physical address, mailing address and phone number.
    • Detailed description of pressure washing project
    • Structure of the payments and the schedule
    • How changes to pressure washing project and/or disputes are handled
    • Cost of materials and type of materials used
    • A clear, concise, and complete description of the pressure washing project, including start and completion dates.
    • Any oral promises that are made.

Getting Ready for San Francisco Power Washing Project
Taking precautions will help protect you and your pressure washing project. It will also increase your chances of success.

    Consider the following guidelines:

    • Never agree to finance your project through your contractor. Shop around for better loan terms.
    • Do not make your final payment until the work that is completed meets the agreed upon specifications and building code requirements.
    • If a contract uses vague terms, don’t sign it. Make sure that all terms are specific regarding project requirements and the work that will be performed.
    • Don’t sign a contract or any document until you have thoroughly read through it and filled in any blank spaces.
    • Agree to make payments as the pressure washing project progresses, contingent upon the completion of a determined amount of work. This way, if work on the project is delayed, payment will be delayed as well.

If you have faithfully followed all of the above steps, you can feel confident that you have hired the best San Francisco pressure washing company for the job. You have done your research, made comparisons, negotiated for a fair price, and signed a written contract.

Now all that is left is for you to sit back and imagine how clean your home will look once your pressure washing project is completed.
