Some companies may ask you to sign an estimate and contract, while others will only require you to come in and buy the awnings you want off of the rack.

If you do place a special order or have to sign a contract, be sure the contract includes the following:

The brand, style and item number of awnings you’re ordering or having installed

The total price of the awnings and all accessories and installation materials

The expected arrival date (if you’re ordering awnings)

The awning installation date (if you’re having your awnings installed)

The name and license number of the installation company

Any guarantees or warranties offered by the manufacturer or awning store

Any special requests to be honored by your awning company

As with any other legal document, you’ll want to make sure both you and your awning company sign the contract. Contracts are binding, so be sure you completely understand the terms and agree to all items stated in the contract. Never sign a blank or incomplete estimate or contract.

Getting Ready for Your New Awnings

Chances are good that your awning installation will be simple and straightforward. If you’re installing your new awning, you probably have little preparation work to do, other than in the immediate area where your new awning will go. If you’re having a contractor handle the installation, however, there are a few things you can do to save time and money.

Keep children, pets and others away from the installation area. For everyone’s safety, keep pets and all people not directly involved with the work away from the site of the new awning installation.

Move any unneeded items away from the work space. Whether you’re installing the awnings or having professionals do it, you’ll want to clear the space where the awning is going up. Take away window boxes, potted plants, decorations and other movable objects to prevent accidents or injuries.

Provide storage space if needed. For a large job, the awning company may need you to store the awnings or installation materials for a few days before or during the work. Ask the awning company if you’ll need to make space for materials and for how long.

Make room for work trucks. Awning installation work may require the awning company to park large vehicles on site. These vehicles may require larger parking spaces or more clearance than passenger vehicles. Ask your awning service if you’ll need to make room for their awning installation vehicles. In extreme cases, such as very tall buildings that require scaffolding or bucket trucks, the awning installers may want to walk through the worksite with you to identify any clearance issues.

Use Diamond Certified Resource to find top rated companies.

Local, Top Rated Diamond Certified Companies Related to Your Topic
Alameda County Awning Companies
Contra Costa County Awning Companies
Solano County Awning Companies
Sonoma County Awning Companies
San Francisco Awning Companies

Related Articles
The Homeowner's Guide to Awnings
Get Expert Advice From Owners of Top Rated Local Companies
Become a Diamond Certified Preferred Member (Always Free)
