Bradley Kendrick: A Solid Foundation
By Julie Deacon, Diamond Certified Research Writer
Bradley Kendrick comes from a long line of tradespeople—his great-grandfather was a plumber, and his grandfather and father spent years working in the construction industry—so when it came to shaping his own career path, he was able to rely on a solid foundation of hard work. “We’ve had a long history of construction in our family,” he affirms. “Building things has always been a part of who we are.”
The Kendrick family first found success in the pest control industry with a company that grew into one of the Central Valley’s leading providers. As the business expanded, Bradley saw an opportunity to build upon its expertise in home repairs. In 2023, he took the lead on a general construction division and partnered with experienced professionals to help guide the company’s growth. “I had a strong background in business, but my construction experience was limited,” he explains. “Working alongside people who had decades of construction knowledge helped us build something that could really serve homeowners.”
The opportunity to acquire Nelson Dye came through an unexpected connection. After hiring longtime draftsman Jason Schwan, whose family had owned the firm for decades, Bradley and his partners were introduced to the idea of purchasing a company that had a built-in reputation for quality craftsmanship and trustworthiness. “Any company that has been around for 70 years has obviously done something right,” he says. “When we saw their integrity, the quality of their work, and the way they treated their clients and employees, we realized that everything mirrored our own values.”
Today, as co-owner of Nelson Dye, Bradley says his favorite aspect of his work is helping customers see the potential in their homes. “I love working with our clients to bring their ideas to life,” he says. “Watching a project transform from something that doesn’t look very impressive into a beautiful kitchen, bathroom or living space is incredibly rewarding.”
A resident of Fresno since 2011, Bradley says the area’s connection to farming and food production resonates with his appreciation for growth and transformation. “I love that we’re an agricultural community. There’s something special about being part of a region that helps feed the world.”
Outside of work, Bradley spends most of his free time with his wife, Julie, and their three children (a fourth is on the way), but he also takes every opportunity to hit the golf course with his father and two brothers. “We try to play once a week, so it’s a great way for us to stay connected,” he says. “I also like playing basketball. I’m lucky if I can play once a week, but my dad is still out there three times a week!”
In addition to his work in construction, Bradley serves as lead pastor of a Pentecostal church in Madera. “If I’m not with my family or working, I’m usually at church,” he says. “I absolutely love serving people and being part of that community.”
Whether he’s leading a congregation, helping a homeowner renovate a kitchen or spending time with his family, Bradley is guided by a principle he learned from the Book of Proverbs. “A good name is more desirable than great riches, and to be esteemed is better than silver or gold,” he offers. “I’d rather have a good reputation and treat people right than focus only on making money.”
