Adam Carver: Opening Doors to Opportunity
By Julie Deacon, Diamond Certified Research Writer
For Adam Carver, a career in the garage door industry wasn’t something he mapped out in advance—it was an opportunity that presented itself at the right time. “My stepfather’s best friend was already in the field and wanted to expand into new locations, so he approached me and we decided to move forward together,” he explains. “After he trained me, we launched Hanson Overhead Garage Door Service from the ground up in 2009.”
Adam learned the garage door trade through hands-on work and mentorship, developing both the technical knowledge and customer-focused approach that continue to define his business today. Over time, that experience translated into a deeper understanding of not just garage door installation and repair, but how to guide homeowners through decisions that directly impact both function and appearance. “One of the most rewarding parts of my job is taking an outdated garage door and turning it into something that completely changes the look of the property,” he says. “Seeing the customer’s reaction in that situation makes the work worthwhile.”
Adam relocated to Northern California specifically to start Hanson Overhead Garage Door Service, but he’s proud to call Santa Rosa home over a decade later. “There’s a strong sense of community here and it’s very welcoming,” he says. “There’s a lot of business and commerce, but at the same time, it’s comfortable and convenient.”
Outside of work, Adam dedicates most of his free time to his wife, Theresa, and their four children, but he also carves out plenty of space for his primary hobby: playing music. “I used to study classical guitar and blues guitar, so I still like playing when I can,” he details. “My kids are into music as well, so we play a lot together. Apart from that, I like getting outside and tending to my garden.”
Adam’s life experiences—building a company, raising a family, maintaining a creative outlet—have shaped a perspective rooted in consistency and long-term effort. Rather than chasing quick success, he focuses on steady growth and delivering reliable results for his customers. Looking ahead, he continues to prioritize quality, service and the relationships he has built within his community.
