Diamond Certified Expert Contributor, Mostafa Sowadah: Common problem of older toilets is that when you flush them they don&#8217;t flush everything out in one time, sometimes you need to do them 2, 3 times. The reason being behind that is that the main water pipe in the street has a lot of pressure that distributes water to all the houses. When it has holes in it, it doesn&#8217;t leak, it sucks the sand in. And that sand gets carried away and it end up in your tanks &#8211; water heater tank and your toilet tank.
And those small holes in your bowl of your toilet when you flush the toilet, those small holes get clogged with sand. So, instead of the toilet flushing 2 gallons per flush in 5 seconds, now it&#8217;s doing it in 9 seconds. So, it&#8217;s flushing the same amount of water but the tackle is slower and that&#8217;s the reason why you&#8217;re flushing more than once. So, if you take a pinhole or a pen or a pencil and go to jet holes on your bowl where the water come out and clean them once every 6 months, you should not have this problem.
