In reality, almost all types of shingles fail prematurely, so if you don’t have a factory warranty, you’re likely going to be paying for another roof in the future.” Mr. Carrell says attention to detail is vital for securing your roof’s warranty. “The warranty on your roof is only good if you secure it in writing from the manufacturer, and the only way you can do that is to hire a factory-certified installer who purchases the materials and installs them in exact accordance with their requirements. If there’s a failure and it turns out things weren’t done to their specifications, your warranty will be voided.”
