They provide honesty, integrity, quality work, and excellent service. In a time where it may be difficult to find good honest service, this is one place you can go to and have reliable service every single time.

I think, it's their consistency. I know every time I go there, I'm going to get an honest evaluation, fair, pricing, on-time work, and excellent work, never having to go back in repeatedly for an issue.

They're honest, well-informed people. The work is done on time as promised.

They are a smaller operation. They have plenty of information. They got back to you, good communication and good feedback. I believe they were honest about what needed to be done and what you shouldn't do. They give good advice. I never felt that they were taking advantage of you. I would recommend them to people who don't know anything about cars. I think the guy was totally honest. They were highly recommended by other BMW owners. I always felt I was in great hands with them.

Comparative Summary

Maintaining customer satisfaction is a crucial aspect of any business, but it’s even more important for auto repair companies that have earned the prestigious Diamond Certified award. For Campbell European Motors, the key to achieving and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction is simple: provide every customer with personalized attention and quality service at a competitive price. “We treat each customer as if they’re part of our family,” says owner Richard Park. “Everyone who works here strives to provide the best customer service possible.”

Campbell European Motors has been repairing and maintaining European vehicles (including all Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Volkswagen, Lexus and Subaru models) at its Campbell facility since 1982. The company utilizes high-quality parts and state-of-the-art computer diagnostic equipment to perform factory-specified maintenance, brake and suspension work, check engine light diagnostics, pre-purchase inspections, extended warranty repairs, and more.

Unlike larger auto repair shops that take an “assembly line” approach to their work and limit their personal interactions with customers as a result, Campbell European Motors utilizes its smaller size to provide highly personalized, detail-oriented service. “We want to establish and maintain long-term relationships with our customers, and taking a transparent approach to fixing their cars is an important part of that,” says Mr. Park. “Our technicians are always available to explain their repairs and review components that could cause problems in the future.”

Another distinguishing feature of Campbell European Motors is its comprehensive approach to quality control, which includes performing a final review and road test on every vehicle before it’s returned to its owner, regardless of the extent of the service. “Quality control is very important to us,” confirms Mr. Park. “We genuinely care about our customers and their vehicles, so we take every precaution to make sure our work is as high-quality as possible.”

Industry Info

Keep your car on a regular tune-up schedule to avoid long-term maintenance costs. Most people know they have to regularly change the oil in their cars, but many vehicle owners don’t realize that regular tune-ups are equally important. For example, getting your transmission flushed every 18 months costs about $150, but ignoring this service can eventually cause the transmission to break, and new transmissions can cost up to $2,000.
If you notice problems with your car’s transmission, have a professional check for malfunctions instead of trying to fix them yourself. Over-the-counter additives that are supposed to stop leaks or improve transmission shifting often contain chemicals that cause worn seals to swell, which can interfere with the function of operating rubber parts and lead to severe transmission damage.
When it comes to oil, most people think they have to stick with a certain brand for the entire lifespan of their car, but that’s not always the case. If you’re at a gas station and you’re low on oil, don’t be afraid to add a quart of any brand—the $3 you spend could possibly save a $6,000 engine. When choosing between traditional and synthetic oil, the limiting factor isn’t the oil, but rather the oil filter. Some synthetic oils will last up to 7,500 miles, but your oil filter will only last 5,000.
If your car is constantly losing oil, the first step is to establish if it’s actually burning oil (usually indicated by blue or black smoke) or just leaking it. A minor leak from a worn-out drain plug or bad gasket can result in a surprising amount of oil loss. Also, oil that leaks onto a hot exhaust pipe can produce similarly colored smoke, even if the engine isn’t actually burning it. If your car’s oil loss is relatively small, consider trying an oil additive or “stop leak” product (typically less than $10 at an auto parts store). Also, using a heavier grade engine oil might help.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How can I check the condition of my tires?

A: You can visually check your tires by looking at the small ‘wear bars’ between the treads. When a tire’s treads become even with its wear bar, it should be replaced. Also, make sure you don’t over- or under-inflate your tires—they’ll wear out prematurely.

Q: How often should I have my car serviced?

A: It depends on the make and model of your car. We always recommend following the manufacturer’s guidelines when it comes to service intervals. Even if you’re a low-mileage driver, you should have your car inspected and serviced at least once a year.

Q: What does this warning light mean?

A: There are numerous warning lights that signify a variety of car problems, so you should always check your manual when you notice one. For example, a brake pad warning light will indicate either the front or rear brake pad linings (or both) are getting low and should be replaced soon. If your check engine light is flashing, you should pull over immediately just to be safe.

Q: Will my warranty be voided if I have my car serviced by you instead of the dealership?

A: No. Federal law prohibits new car dealers from denying warranty service because routine scheduled maintenance was performed at an independent repair facility.

Q: Do you provide a shuttle service?

A: Yes, we have a free shuttle service that can take you anywhere in the local Campbell area.

Q: Is there much of a difference between European and domestic vehicles when it comes to standard maintenance?

A: Yes. Mainly, the service intervals are much longer for most European vehicles. For example, newer Mercedes-Benz models can drive up to 13,000 miles before they need their oil serviced.
