New Ways to Take the California Driver’s License Test

She told me she had studied for it but got flustered. When I told her I had easily passed my exam, having taken it in the comfort of my home office rather than at the DMV, she was surprised to hear about the new options for license testing in California. Many individuals are eligible to take the driver’s knowledge test online before visiting a DMV office. You can choose a remote option after filling out the online application and paying the fee. The test is available in 35 languages and can’t be taken on a tablet or mobile device. You’ll have to verify your identity and be monitored throughout the exam. If you’re simply renewing your driver’s license (like I was), you can opt to take the traditional knowledge test or an interactive “eLearning” course. This is a new offering. Each segment has a short quiz at the end of the module, and you can take the test on a mobile device, tablet or computer. It’s available 24/7 and takes about 45 minutes to complete. P.S.
