Wear hearing protection in loud environments. Whether you work around loud machinery or frequently attend live music events, be sure to wear proper hearing protection. Even if you already have hearing loss, taking proactive measures can prevent further damage from occurring.

2. Don’t put off treatment. There are two sides to hearing loss: a drop in volume and a drop in clarity, the latter of which determines the quality of the information that reaches the brain. While nothing can stop the former from occurring, hearing aids can help preserve clarity by keeping the auditory pathways active. Considering the essential role clarity plays in communication, proactive treatment is crucial to prevent further deterioration of auditory faculties.

3. See your audiologist regularly. Having your hearing evaluated on an annual basis will enable your audiologist to track changes over time and treat problems preventatively. If you wear hearing aids, work with an audiologist to ensure they’re calibrated for optimal performance in accordance with your needs.

Use Diamond Certified Resource to find top rated companies.

Related Articles
The Essential Guide to Hearing Services
Get Expert Advice From Owners of Top Rated Local Companies
Become a Diamond Certified Preferred Member (Always Free)
