Jason Stergion: More Than a Career

By James Florence, Diamond Certified Resource Reporter

CAMERON PARK — For Jason Stergion, getting into the hardwood floor business was more than just a career choice—it was a decision to continue a family legacy. “My dad started Just Hardwood Floors in 1989,” he recounts. “I started working there during the summers in high school. I liked the industry a lot—the craft, the challenges, the camaraderie on the jobsites. I also liked the idea of one day owning a business and having the freedom to decide my own schedule. With that in mind, I figured there was no better opportunity than to stay with the family business. I started working here full-time after high school and I’ve been here for 16 years now.”

Today, Jason says his favorite part of his job is satisfying customers. “I like seeing how grateful the customer is at the end of a project. We take a lot of pride in our work, so it’s very satisfying to see them happy with the result.”

A resident of South San Francisco (where he lives with his wife, Brianna, and their three children), Jason spends his time outside of work on a variety of pastimes. “I love the outdoors,” he says. “I’m an avid deer hunter and I enjoy hiking and camping with my family. We also have a cabin and some acreage where we like spending time.” Additionally, Jason enjoys attending his kids’ basketball and baseball games.

Regarding his professional career, Jason espouses the importance of honesty. “We’re honest with our customers to the point where they know exactly what they’re going to get before the work even starts,” he says. “We explain each phase of the job in detail and walk with them every step of the way, so there are no uncertainties or surprises. This enables us to build trust with our customers and, ultimately, ensure complete satisfaction with the final product.”
